Job Title: Estimating Manager
Location: (Dallas–Fort Worth metro area)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Work Schedule: 40+ hours/week, Exempt
Relocation Assistance: Considered for out-of-state candidates
Remote Work: Not permitted; onsite/local presence required
Position Overview
The Estimating Manager will be responsible for preparing accurate, timely, and competitive cost estimates and formal proposals for highway and municipal construction projects. This role plays a key part in supporting business growth and profitability through strategic bidding and collaboration with internal teams.
• Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates and proposals for TxDOT, NTTA, and city-led construction projects.
• Review and interpret blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to determine project scope and estimate costs.
• Identify discrepancies in bid documentation and clearly communicate any scope changes.
• Use historical data, vendor pricing, and industry benchmarks to build competitive pricing models.
• Collaborate with project managers and leadership to evaluate project risks, resource needs, and timelines.
• Track the status of bids and maintain up-to-date performance metrics.
• Generate purchase orders and coordinate with suppliers during the estimating process.
• Support ongoing project needs by pricing change orders and updates to existing estimates.
• Stay current with industry trends and technical skills through training, workshops, and continuous learning.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Minimum 2 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably on TxDOT or municipal electrical projects.
• Solid knowledge of traffic signal systems, ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems), roadway signage, highway illumination, and general electrical infrastructure.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
• Excellent verbal communication and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and deliver consistently.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil or Electrical Engineering, or a related field is preferred (not required).
Preferred Background
• Strong preference for candidates located in the Dallas–Fort Worth metro area.
• Experience working with subcontractors, municipal contractors, or general contractors with related experience.
• Familiarity with TxDOT specifications and municipal construction practices is a strong plus.
