Job Description

SUMMARY Responsible for developing and maintaining AARs safety and environmental policies. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Represent AAR during Safety/Environmental audits. Create and maintain AAR Safety and Environmental policies. Write and file Quarterly Safety/Environmental report to Corp Risk Management. Write and file all required Environmental/Safety reports to government agencies. Create and manage department budget. Develop, implement, and maintain AAR safety program and safety manual. Chair the AAR Safety Committee. Conduct appropriate safety and environmental training classes. Develop and maintain records on accidents and audits. Liaison with all Safety/Environmental government agencies, as needed. Maintain an index of all hazardous materials used at AAR. Monitor and oversee hazardous material storage and disposal procedures and contracts at AAR. Maintain contingency plans for spills, accidents, discharge, or other environmental irregularity. Obtain and maintain all applicable environmental permits.

This position will have the added responsibility of carrying out the duties of the SMS Coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Minimum Requirements: Experience in EHS area or willingness and ability to learn. Training Requirements: Training in Hazardous Waste Management Procedures. This can be Classroom, Workshops, Conference, or Self-Study. Training Recurrent: Yearly recurrent Training in RCRA issues including a review of Emergency Management Plan. This training can be Classroom, Workshops, Conference, or Self-Study EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university; or eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
