Job Description
The ASM is an alliance between HEB Construction, Fulton Hogan and NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi to operate and maintain Auckland's motorway network. The Alliance is expected to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders as well as suppliers to deliver exceptional outcomes for customers using the Auckland transport system.
The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Advisor to play a key role in supporting our program of work. In this role, you’ll provide environmental advice, practical solutions, and oversight to ensure our environmental management, compliance, and monitoring are maintained to the highest standard.
You will help refine and influence our existing processes and practices, contributing to a consistent best‑practice approach across all teams. This is a high impact role, working across the wider business and supporting operations across the Auckland State Highway Network.
What you will be doing:
As Environmental Advisor you will have a variety of responsibilities and accountabilities, including (but not limited to):
Supporting our people to implement and develop environmental controls and management practices
Monitoring compliance with Council plans, consents, environmental management plans, designation conditions and Trade Waste Agreements
Auditing operations and onsite controls to ensure standards are maintained
Assisting with managing environmental incidents, investigations, and reporting
Promoting sustainability, environmental innovation, continuous improvement, and the development and implementation of the Environmental Management System
Supporting the development of job‑specific environmental management plans and work instructions
Presenting at team toolboxes on improvements, challenges and solutions
Maintaining training material and working with teams to build environmental awareness
About You:
Our ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, experience and skills:
Relevant tertiary qualification such as Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Resource and Environmental Planning, Urban Planning, or similar.
3 to 5 years relevant experience.
Relevant or transferable construction or maintenance experience
Experience with site work (e.g., sampling and auditing)
Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships
Ability to work independently
Flexibility to conduct night audits as required
