Job Description
Tutors will be responsible for providing tutoring to adult learners on topics that learners need assistance with. Tutoring sessions will be planned around the learner’s schedule, and the options for day, evening, or weekend sessions will be flexible. The tutor provides one-on-one, or small group focused attention structured around the subjects such as requested.

Duties & Responsibilities
Provide one-on-one tutoring and/or small group tutoring sessions
Make effective use of resources, textbooks, references materials, computer searches, educational tools, manipulatives, model kits
Use approaches appropriate to adult learning (link with prior knowledge and experience, relate material to educational and/or career goals, etc.)
Use and model effective learning practices: elaboration, dual coding, spaced practice, interleaving, retrieval practice and concrete examples
Teach students essential study skills to help them learn the subject matter (learning strategy support)
Follow academic integrity as stated by Keyano protocols
Remain current in best practices for academic support
Maintain proficiency in course content
Use virtual platforms to reach students remotely when needed
Qualifications
Possess a bachelor's degree, preferably with 1-year minimum experience teaching in an adult education setting or a strong content knowledge of English Language Learning (ELL) or CAEC (Canadian Adult Education Credential) studies or Trades entrance exams
Intermediate computer use, including the ability to use online learning platforms
Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to apply principles of adult education
Ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex abstract material in concrete terms
Ability to facilitate and initiate a proactive, individualized approach to learning that recognizes learning differences and educational backgrounds
Ability to adapt the approach to accommodate individual student needs
OTHER COMPETENCIES:
Experience with adult literacy learners
Sensitivity to different cultures and language backgrounds
Caring and culturally sensitive attitude
