Join our CleanStart Team at L&Q:
This is not a traditional employability role. As an Employment & Life Sustainment Advisor within L&Q’s CleanStart programme, you will work with individuals who are rebuilding their lives, people with complex histories, multiple barriers, and significant potential. Many are navigating the criminal justice system, trauma, neurodiversity, homelessness, or long-term exclusion from work.
Your role is to walk alongside them, combining challenge with compassion, structure with belief. You will be helping people not just get a job, but sustain employment, rebuild stability, and create a new future.
CleanStart is L&Q’s flagship social value and employment programme, delivering real, measurable impact by providing paid work, volunteering, mentoring, and intensive pastoral support to people furthest from the labour market.
You can learn more about the programme and its impact here: https://www.lqgroup.org.uk/cleanstart
This role sits at the heart of that mission.
Your impact in the role:
You will manage a caseload of clients with complex needs, taking ownership for:
Assessing risk, readiness, and support needs
Delivering tailored interventions and coaching
Navigating and brokering external support (housing, health, substance misuse, learning, justice partners)
Supporting onboarding into employment or volunteering
Contracting clear expectations, boundaries, and accountability
Coordinating multi-agency input and internal stakeholders
Maintaining robust case records, safeguarding, and compliance
Championing equality, inclusion, and dignity in every interaction
You will also play a key role in:
Promoting the CleanStart programme internally and externally
Building partnerships with employers and referral agencies
Telling the stories that demonstrate CleanStart’s impact
Supporting continuous improvement and service development
Who we’re looking for:
This role is for someone who is:
Experienced in supporting people with complex needs
Confident challenging behaviour while maintaining empathy
Skilled in case management, coaching, and risk assessment
Comfortable working with criminal justice partners and safeguarding frameworks
Organised, resilient, and able to work autonomously
Values-driven and motivated by long-term social impact
What you’ll bring:
A relevant qualification (e.g. Social Work, Counselling, Employability Practice) and or extensive experience working in a support capacity with vulnerable adults.
Experience in a support or advisory role
Strong communication skills across written, verbal, and digital channels
Confidence presenting, facilitating, and influencing stakeholders
A commitment to learning, reflective practice, and ethical working
Why join L&Q CleanStart?
Because this is work that matters. At L&Q, social value isn’t an add-on, it’s core to who we are. In this role, you’ll be part of a team that believes people can change, that employment can be transformative, and that lasting impact comes from doing the hard work well.
You’ll be supported, trusted, and empowered to make decisions, and you’ll see the difference your work makes in real lives, every day.
We recognise the value and insight that lived experience can bring, and we know that some of the most impactful people in this work are those who have navigated adversity themselves.
If you believe in second chances and are committed to supporting others to build a positive and sustainable future, we encourage you to apply.
For this post the successful candidate will need to apply for or be in possession of an Enhanced with adult Disclosure Barring Service certificate (DBS) to enable them to work within the team. For further information about the Disclosure Barring Service please visit www.homeoffice.gov.uk
