EMC/EMI Lab Technician - Level 1

Position Summary: We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Level 1 EMC/EMI Lab Technician to join our growing team. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals eager to start a career in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) testing. Under direct supervision, you will support our experienced technicians in performing tests on a wide range of components and systems to military and aerospace standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in the setup and teardown of test configurations, including connecting equipment, cabling, and instrumentation.
• Learn to operate various EMC/EMI test equipment, such as spectrum analyzers, EMI receivers, signal generators, power amplifiers, and antennas.
• Support the execution of tests according to established procedures for MIL-STD-461 (all revisions), RTCA DO-160 (all revisions), and UK DEF-STAN 59-411 Part 3 Issue 2.
• Document test results accurately and meticulously.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
• Participate in training and development activities to enhance EMC/EMI knowledge and skills.
• Perform routine equipment checks and basic troubleshooting under supervision.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and quality management system procedures.
Qualifications:
• An Associate's Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technician, Technology, Electronics, or a related field is a strong asset.
• Basic understanding of electrical and electronic principles.
• Familiarity with laboratory equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes) is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Control Goods status.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
• Good manual dexterity for handling delicate equipment and connections.
