Elementary Special Education Teacher (Exceptional Student Services - ESS)
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.
• Adapt and modify general education curriculum to meet the needs of students with varying disabilities.
• Provide direct instruction in academic, social, behavioral, and life skills areas based on each student’s IEP.
• Use a variety of instructional strategies and assistive technologies to meet diverse learning needs.
• Assess student progress and maintain accurate records of assessments, services, and IEP goal progress.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure accommodations and modifications are implemented effectively.
• Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other relevant team meetings.
• Implement positive behavioral support plans and monitor student behavior.
• Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Stay current with best practices, legal requirements, and professional standards in special education.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field
• Valid state teaching license/certification in Special Education.
• Valid AZ fingerprint clearance card
• Knowledge of IDEA and other applicable special education laws and regulations.
• Experience with IEP development and implementation.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with students with disabilities.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with behavior management systems and intervention strategies.
• Proficiency in using educational technology and assistive devices.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $68,000.00 per year
