Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Level 3 Electrical Tutor to deliver advanced electrical qualifications and apprenticeships. This role focuses on developing learners who are starting out in their career, as well as those looking to upskill or retrain. Your role is to ensure they have the technical competence, problem‑solving ability, and professional behaviours expected of qualified electricians.
You will deliver high‑quality specialist teaching in advanced electrical disciplines, installation and maintenance practices, fault finding, inspection and testing, and compliance with BS standards.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Delivery
Deliver high-level theory and practical training
Teach complex subjects including: inspection and testing, requirements and certification under BS standards, fault diagnisis and rectification, electrical science and circuitry
Create and deliver engaging and ambitious lessons
Follow a scheme of work and ensure compliance with Ofsted and DfE expectations
Assessment & Quality
Conduct Level 2 and 3 summative assessments, practical performance tests, and portfolio reviews.
Prepare learners for online exams, practical tasks, and final competency elements including EPA.
Provide detailed, constructive feedback to support learner progression.
Maintain accurate and compliant assessment records for IQA and EQA purposes.
Participate in standardisation and contribute to continuous quality improvement.
Learner Support & Development
Guide learners through challenging material, helping them build confidence in complex tasks.
Support apprenticeship learners transitioning from Level 2 to Level 3 technical expectations.
Promote strong professionalism, working standards, and safety behaviours.
Identify learning needs and tailor support strategies accordingly.
Professional Responsibilities
Keep knowledge up to date with the latest edition of BS 7671 and industry developments.
Comply with safeguarding, Prevent, and all centre policies.
Contribute ideas and expertise to curriculum design and development of advanced training modules.
Experience and personal attributes
5 years experience in an electrical engineering role
Up to date qualifications including 18th edition and Level 3 install and maintenance
Knowledge of City & Guilds qualification preferred, but not essential
Ability to manage multiple cohorts on a range of courses
Able to build up strong relationships with learners and employers
Strong numerical and analytical skills
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills including tracking learner progress and ensuring compliance with DfE and Ofsted regulations
Experience of working in an educational or training environment preferred, but not essential
High integrity, professionalism and confidentiality
Ability to work as part of a team
Proactive approach and self motivated
Able to work to tight deadlines and prioritise workload
