Essential Qualifications

Certificate III, Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (or an equivalent).

A current and valid Working With Children Check or ability to obtain one.

First Aid Certificate including training in asthma and anaphylaxis.

Essential Skills and Attributes:

Ability to provide a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for all children.

Understanding the developmental milestones and needs of children in various age groups.

Capability to design, implement and evaluate developmentally appropriate programs for children.

Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise with children, parents and colleagues.

Ability to work as part of a diverse team.

Adaptable to various situations and needs that arise in an early childhood setting.

Desirable Skills and Knowledge:

Familiarity with the national early learning framework for children from birth to five years.

Understanding of the standards and assessment process to ensure quality service.

Respect and understanding of diverse cultures, families and individual children's needs.

Proficiency in using computers and relevant software to document children's learning and development.

Previous experience as an Educator, Assistant Educator, Childcare Assistant or similar.

For eligible persons support payments may apply, up to $5,000 over a two-year period for a full-time employee. All registered trainees receive paid study and training time. Free or subsidised course fees for eligible people may apply.

Essential Qualifications

Willingness to enrol in or currently enrolled in a Certificate III or higher in Early Childhood Education and Care (or its equivalent).

Must be eligible to obtain or already possess a valid Working With Children Check.

Essential Skills and Attributes

Demonstrated interest in early childhood education and a commitment to professional learning and development.

Basic verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with children, families, and colleagues.

Ability to work collaboratively within a team of educators and contribute positively to the service environment.

Punctuality and a sense of responsibility, recognizing the importance of consistency for children.

Desirable Skills and Knowledge

Any prior experience with children, such as babysitting, coaching, or volunteering, can be beneficial, even if it's not in a formal educational setting.

Some initial awareness of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) would be advantageous.

Basic proficiency in using technology, as there might be software or apps used for documentation or communication in the service.
