Mo te tunga | About the role

In this varied role you will be working with the Wahine under our management, helping them gain new skills and qualifications to improve their chances of finding real jobs upon release. You will enable our people to achieve NZQA qualifications, and provide a platform of good working habits to take forward to the future. You will further support rehabilitation and reintegration practices.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of the Wahine in our care and to contribute to their future, the future of their whanau, and the communities in which each they will eventually call home. In this role you will be instrumental in helping individuals to discover a new career path, talent, passion or simply build confidence in their ability to learn.

Our current team works closely with all areas of the business and has a reputation for producing high quality work while delivering relevant, useful, recognised training. For prisoners who choose to pursue a career post-release, the training and practical experience they gain will help them to secure employment.

You will be continually challenged in this role from facilitating adult learning and on-job training to Health Safety, budget management and relationship building, both within the prison and external suppliers. Your passion will inspire others to achieve while your business acumen will ensure P119's are completed on time, within budget and to a high standard.

This role would predominantly be a Warehouse based position, with the willingness to upskill in classroom based training for our Wahine to achieve a Distribution Level 3 and Level 4 Certificates.

Our instructors support prisoners to improve their work habits, work experiences and skills so that they can increase their chances of obtaining sustainable and legitimate employment on their release.

You will need to have great people skills and the motivation to want to manage and develop Wahine in Prison - this is a role with unique challenges and rewards.

Exceptional people management communication skills
The ability to motivate and develop people within a team environment
Can manage with high levels of integrity
Have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically
Can operate effectively in a culturally diverse setting and have an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Nga pukenga me nga wheako | Skills and experience

We are looking for applications from suitable qualified people who have worked in a commercial environment and have:

A proven passion and experience in the Warehousing, Distribution and Logistical Industry.
A relevant trade qualification
A Forklift licence
Outstanding Health and Safety practices
Ideally be experienced as an adult educator or NZQA assessor (4098 or equivalent) however it is not essential as we will support you to obtain this
Have exceptional people skills and the motivation to develop others
Demonstrate the ability to harness potential and be proactive in approach
Hold a current first aid certificate and full clean NZ driver license
Instructors are expected to hold or, with the appropriate experience, be willing to gain unit standard 4098 in adult education.

Applicants for this role must be a New Zealand citizen, New Zealand Resident Permit holder, Work Permit Holder and have the right to work in New Zealand, Australian citizen or an Australian resident who holds a current Australian Resident Return Visa.

Nga painga | The benefits

The salary range for this role is $72,514 - $90,322. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.

Rosters provided 12 months in advance so you can plan your leave
