Job Description

As the Legal Director for India at our company, your role will involve acting as a business partner to various teams within the organization, including sales, procurement, finance, quality, engineering, HR, and site management/operations in India. You will be responsible for understanding their goals and challenges, and identifying legal and compliance strategies to support these goals and minimize challenges. Your key responsibilities and duties will include:

- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements
- Managing corporate matters
- Working with and managing external counsels in litigations and other legal disputes
- Handling compliance matters and investigations
- Advising on various legal matters in daily operations, such as employment issues
- Providing training on legal and compliance topics
- Reporting on external counsel spending and budget-related matters
- Collaborating with company legal team members worldwide on legal projects
- Undertaking other tasks as assigned by your line manager

To excel in this role, you should have the following qualifications and experience:

- Excellent academic record with an undergraduate or master's degree in law; overseas legal education background preferred
- India or overseas legal qualification is a plus
- At least 13-15 years' experience in-house or in a law firm, including experience in the auto industry
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Strong executive presence and senior stakeholder management skills
- Solid knowledge and experience in dealing with general commercial and corporate matters
- Preferably have managed IP and technology issues
- Able to work independently on daily in-house legal issues with minimum supervision
