Digital Problem Solver
Job Description
zag is a full-service Edmonton-based marketing agency, and we’re looking for someone to support the technical side of the work we do for our clients. Some of the work will be routine. Most of it will be the moments where something breaks and no one else in the room knows how to fix it. You’re the person we will turn to.
The work
Websites, email platforms, analytics, integrations, tracking, DNS, coding and automations — all of the systems that keep marketing actually working. Figure things out, make them work, make them better.
Potential day-to-day:
Plugin updates
Content swaps
Scheduled sends
Reporting
Potential challenges:
Solving a problem you’ve never seen before
An integration that broke overnight and needs to be fixed asap
A client who needs something built by Thursday that doesn’t exist yet
On AI & Tools
We don’t care how you get to the answer. We care that you get there fast and it’s excellent.
If you’re already using AI tools to move at 2–3x, building with Cursor, debugging with Claude, prototyping with v0, you’ll fit right in.
We’ll never tell you to stop using AI. We’ll wonder why you’re not using it more.
Who you are
You’re the kind of person who builds things in your spare time, not because anyone asked, but because you’re genuinely curious and learn by doing.
You take ownership of your work. When something’s broken, you’d rather fix it than flag it. When something’s good enough, you want to make it better.
You’re independent but not isolated. You communicate clearly, flag what matters and make the people around you better.
Do apply if
You want ownership of technical work from day one
You want to be surrounded by people who are the best at what they do: Technology, Strategy, Creative, Accounts
You love to learn and learn by doing
Don't apply if
You hear “figure it out” and feel anxious instead of excited
You do what’s asked and stop there
You’d describe yourself as someone who’s casual about their work
You think AI tools are a shortcut, not a skillset
Comp & Environment
Competitive Pay
Health and dental benefits
Vacation, PTO and bonus days off
To apply
This role is for someone who’s optimizing for what they can become. No standard cover letter, no “Dear Hiring Manager”.
Tell us about something cool you’ve built, a side project, a site, a tool, a hack. Tell us why you built it, what you learned and what you would do differently if you built it again.
Shortlisted applications will receive an email from us requesting a screening interview.
Following the screening interview, successful applicants will receive a request for a formal interview.
