POSITION SUMMARY
We’re looking for a technically confident, thoughtful, and collaborative digital marketer to help us build out a growing part of Principles.
This role sits at the centre of paid media deployment, campaign setup, analytics, tracking, reporting, and the behind-the-scenes infrastructure that helps nonprofit campaigns actually work.
We’re looking for someone who already feels comfortable in platforms like Meta, Google Ads, Google Grants, GA4 and GTM, and who understands how strong digital systems can help progressive organizations reach the right people, raise more money, and move more people to act.
This is a great fit for someone who has digital marketing or agency experience, likes both strategy and execution, and wants more ownership than they might get inside a larger organization. We’re a small team with strong systems already in place, but we know this part of the agency has huge potential.
The right person will bring technical skills, curiosity, people skills, and entrepreneurial energy to help shape what comes next.
ABOUT PRINCIPLES
Principles is a progressive nonprofit agency that helps charities, advocacy organizations, and social impact teams build strategies, campaigns, creative, and digital programs that move people to act.
We work with organizations across issue areas including health, disability, education, poverty, climate, human rights, community care, and more. Our clients are trying to make the world better, and our job is to help them communicate clearly, reach the right people, and turn good strategy into meaningful action.
We are a small, collaborative team of approximately 15 people. We care a lot about doing excellent work, building strong relationships, and creating a workplace where people can be thoughtful, ambitious, kind, and human.
THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW
We value diversity and encourage applications from folks from/with all backgrounds, genders, ethnicities, abilities, identities, and lived experiences.
The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000 plus health benefits.
This role includes:
• 3 weeks of paid time off per year
• A lighter workload between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day
• Extra long weekends every summer
• Remote work
• Optional access to our office at Queen and Spadina in Toronto
• Quarterly 2-day in-person all-staff working sessions
• A laptop and other work-from-home supplies as needed
• A monthly $50 stipend to help offset mobile phone expenses
• Annual bonuses shared with all employees when business targets are met
CORE RESPONSIBILITIESPaid Media Strategy & Planning
You will work within and alongside the strategy team to develop practical, thoughtful paid media recommendations for client campaigns and projects.
This may include:
• Translating client objectives, campaign strategies, and creative concepts into paid media recommendations
• Helping develop media plans across platforms such as Meta, Google Ads, Google Grants, Microsoft Ads, and other relevant digital channels
• Recommending audiences, budgets, timelines, KPIs, and optimization priorities
• Collaborating with strategy, creative, accounts, and project management team members to make sure media plans are aligned with campaign goals, creative needs, timelines, and budgets
• Supporting media planning conversations with clients in a clear and accessible way
• Coordinating with third-party media planners, buyers, or agencies when projects include expanded channels such as out-of-home, broadcast, connected television, or other specialized placements
Campaign Configuration & Deployment
You will configure, launch, and manage paid media campaigns across approved advertising platforms.
This may include:
• Building and launching campaigns in platforms such as Meta, Google Ads, Google Grants, Microsoft Ads, and other platforms as needed
• Setting up campaigns accurately based on approved plans, budgets, creative assets, tracking requirements, and client objectives
• Maintaining strong quality control across campaign builds, including audiences, budgets, naming conventions, trafficking, placements, UTMs, and launch readiness
• Supporting the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of tracking infrastructure, including pixels, tags, conversion events, GA4, GTM, UTM structures, and related tools
• Monitoring campaigns while they are in market
• Identifying issues, risks, or opportunities for improvement before they become bigger problems
Optimization, Reporting & Analysis
You will help clients and internal teams understand what is happening, what it means, and what we should do next.
This may include:
• Reviewing campaign performance on an ongoing basis
• Making thoughtful optimization recommendations to improve results
• Preparing and maintaining reporting dashboards using Looker Studio or other reporting tools
• Analyzing performance across channels, audiences, creative assets, and conversion points
• Developing post-campaign reports that summarize results, learnings, trends, and future opportunities
• Presenting reporting, analysis, and recommendations to clients and internal teams in a clear, accessible, and strategic way
Paid Media Systems & Growth
You will help us strengthen and grow paid media as a service area at Principles.
This does not mean you need to have all the answers on day one. It does mean you should be excited to help build better systems, improve our workflows, and bring your perspective to how this part of the agency evolves.
This may include:
• Staying current on paid media trends, platform updates, emerging channels, and best practices
• Helping identify opportunities to improve our paid media systems, processes, tools, templates, training, and delivery models
• Contributing ideas for how Principles can strengthen, scale, or evolve its paid media function over time
• Helping document repeatable workflows and quality-control processes
• Participating in training and professional development related to paid media, analytics, reporting, and emerging digital platforms
Strategy Team Support
You will also be part of the broader strategy team, contributing to client strategy work where your capacity, interest, and project needs align.
This may include:
• Supporting campaign strategy, audience planning, measurement thinking, and digital recommendations
• Collaborating with strategists and client leads to make sure paid media work connects to the larger strategic direction of each project
• Bringing a media-informed perspective to internal planning conversations and client recommendations
• Helping the team make smart decisions about what is realistic, measurable, and likely to perform
General
Like everyone at Principles, you will be expected to:
• Manage your time effectively
• Stay organized and detail-oriented
• Communicate clearly with internal teams, clients, vendors, and external partners
• Meet agreed-upon timelines, deadlines, and internal process requirements
• Participate in staff meetings, quarterly gatherings, internal planning conversations, and other team activities
• Contribute to the ongoing evolution of how Principles delivers excellent, high-impact work

• Experience reading campaign data and turning it into clear recommendations
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Comfort working directly with clients or external partners
• The ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities at once
• A collaborative approach to working with strategists, creatives, account leads, and project managers
• Interest in nonprofit, advocacy, fundraising, or social impact work

These are not required, but would be great:
• Experience with Google Grants
• Experience with Microsoft Ads
• Experience with PMAX campaigns
• Experience building dashboards in Looker Studio
• Experience with nonprofit fundraising campaigns, lead generation campaigns, advocacy campaigns, or email acquisition campaigns
• Familiarity with platforms like Engaging Networks, Luminate Online, Mailchimp, New/Mode, Typeform, or similar tools
• Experience troubleshooting messy client tracking setups
• Experience working in an agency environment
• Experience helping improve internal systems, templates, workflows, or delivery processes
WHO THIS ROLE MIGHT BE PERFECT FOR
This role could be a great fit for someone who has spent time inside an agency or digital marketing team and is ready for more ownership.
Maybe you know the platforms well, but you want to work on campaigns that feel more meaningful.
Maybe you are used to executing someone else’s media plan, but you want to help shape the thinking behind it.
Maybe you like clean setup, smart tracking, useful reports, and making digital systems work better.
Maybe you are the person who notices when a campaign structure is messy, a conversion event is not firing, or a report is technically accurate but not actually useful.
Maybe you want to help build something.
That is the kind of person we would love to meet.
