Job description
Designer + Creative Associate – Sustainable Fashion
???? Location: Mumbai
???? Website: www.prasamcrafts.com
About Us
Prasam Crafts is a young, dynamic start-up based in Mumbai, crafting slow, sustainable fashion rooted in India’s rich textile heritage. We collaborate closely with artisan clusters across the country to design and produce handloom sarees, kurtas, tops, and tunics — using techniques like Jamdani, Ajrakh, Kalamkari, Bagru prints, hand embroidery, and more. Our mission is to blend traditional craft with contemporary aesthetics, while empowering artisan communities.
Role Overview
We’re looking for a multifaceted Designer — someone with a strong foundation in textile or fashion design who can seamlessly bridge design, product development, and digital storytelling. If you thrive in creative chaos, believe in getting hands-on at the production floor, and can bring ideas to life both through garments and social media — this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities???? Design Development
• Conceptualize and design thoughtful collections rooted in Indian craft traditions
• Work closely with artisans and vendors to translate ideas into production-ready pieces
• Create tech packs, sampling briefs, fabric direction, and mood boards
????️ Product Development
• Act as the backbone of product creation — from sketch to shop-floor
• Troubleshoot design and production challenges with creativity and agility
???? Creative Social Media
• Collaborate on photo/video shoots, styling, and visual campaigns
• Curate and manage Prasam’s social media presence (Instagram, Pinterest, etc.)
• Develop content for lookbooks, reels, and digital storytelling
???? Marketing Support
• Support seasonal campaigns, emailers, and promotional content
• Assist with copywriting and creative content creation
What We’re Looking For
• Degree in Fashion Design or Textile Design
• 1–3 years of relevant experience (we’re open to fresh graduates with a strong portfolio)
• Strong understanding of craft techniques and sustainable fashion
You Are Someone Who:
• Lives and breathes craft, textiles, and conscious fashion
• Is self-motivated, adaptable, and ready to hustle
• Is excited to contribute to every stage — from fabric sourcing to campaign styling
• Has an eye for detail and a flair for visual storytelling
• Can manage multiple roles in a fast-paced start-up environment
• Is open to travel to artisan hubs and production clusters
This Role Is Not for You If:
• You prefer a +–5 desk job with a fixed routine
• You are not comfortable juggling multiple roles or visiting production sites
• You’re not excited about working hands-on in a start-up environment
What You Get
• A front-row seat to building a craft-led fashion brand, working directly with the founder
• Creative freedom to shape the brand’s visual identity and content direction
• A high-impact role with opportunities for rapid personal and professional growth
• The chance to work on real, meaningful projects that bridge heritage and innovation
