Job Description
Essential Skills of a Production Designer
• Working knowledge of the visual arts and production processes and theories
• Sketching ability, and ability to communicate ideas through drawings and models
• Ability to solve problems and be resourceful and adaptable
• Ability to plan, schedule and monitor progress across of a large project
• Well-developed technical and creative skills
• IT skills, including CAD
• Communication and interpersonal skills
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Consulting managers and clients about design requirements.
• clarifying and solving design issues
• producing sketches and sample designs
• correcting product faults
• presenting designs, samples and final work to customers for evaluation
• understand different materials and production methods
• have technical, practical and scientific knowledge and ability
• be interested in the way people choose and use products.
• be good at explaining ideas to people with varying levels of technical knowledge
• be able to use drawings, 3D models and computer designs to express creative ideas.
