Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Front/Back Office Assistant to join our team. This vital role combines administrative support with clinical assistance, ensuring smooth daily operations within our dental practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of dental and medical office procedures. Responsibilities
Manage patient scheduling, appointment confirmations, and multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy.
Verify insurance coverage, process claims, and handle billing using systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Prepare and maintain accurate patient records, including medical history, treatment notes, and documentation review for clinical procedures.
Assist with front desk duties such as patient intake, check-in/check-out processes, and maintaining a welcoming environment.
Support clinical staff by managing medical records, assisting with sterilization protocols, and ensuring proper documentation of care plans.
Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks for efficient health information management.
Perform clerical tasks including filing, data entry, typing (including 10 key), and maintaining organized office files.
Ensure smooth clinic operations by coordinating appointments, verifying insurance benefits such as Medicare or ICD coding requirements, and supporting office management activities.
Requirements
Proven experience in dental or medical office administration with familiarity in dental terminology and healthcare documentation review.
Knowledge of EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms; experience with Epic or Meditech is a plus.
Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding standards, and medical billing procedures.
Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; typing speed of at least 10 key digits per minute is preferred.
Exceptional customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities.
Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
Previous clinic or dental office experience is required; familiarity with insurance verification processes and health information management is essential.
