This is an exciting opportunity for a capable and analytical data and reporting professional to deliver high-quality analysis and reporting that supports health, safety and staff wellbeing outcomes across NSW public education.

As the Data and Reporting Officer, you will provide accurate, timely and insightful data analysis and reporting to support evidence-based decision making, performance monitoring and strategic planning across the Health, Safety and Staff Wellbeing Directorate. Working collaboratively with stakeholders, you will help improve data quality, strengthened reporting practices and deliver clear, actionable insights that inform operational, executive and policy outcomes, ultimately supporting the wellbeing of staff across the public education system.

You will be part of a collaborative and purpose-driven team within the Strategy, Governance and Compliance (SGC) unit, contributing to digital transformation, system enhancement projects, and the uplift of data capability across the directorate.

About the role

The Data and Reporting Officer is responsible for providing accurate, timely, and insightful data analysis and reporting to support evidence-based decision making, performance monitoring and strategic planning across the organisation.

Key responsibilities include:

Analyse data from multiple sources to produce accurate reports and insights for decision-making.
Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and data products aligned with business and reporting standards.
Ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with governance and privacy requirements.
Work with stakeholders to understand reporting needs, prioritise requests, and deliver solutions.
Support onboarding, access, and enquiries for HSSW dashboards and reporting assets.
Identify trends and risks to support program and service improvement.
Prepare internal and external reports, including executive, audit, and statutory reporting.
Contribute to improving data systems, processes, and reporting practices.

About you

You are a capable and detail-focused data and reporting professional with a strong interest in using data to support health, safety and staff wellbeing outcomes across NSW public education.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
Experience using data analytics and visualisation tools (e.g., Microsoft Power BI) to develop clear dashboards and reports.
Strong analytical skills to identify trends, patterns, and insights from data.
Experience working with multiple data sources while ensuring data accuracy and quality.
Ability to produce regular and ad hoc reports for performance, compliance, and planning.
Capacity to quickly learn organisational data and reporting requirements in complex environments.
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills to deliver clear, practical insights.
Effective organisational and time-management skills to manage priorities and meet deadlines.

Essential requirements of the role
Relevant tertiary qualifications OR equivalent experience in data analysis, reporting or a related field.
Experience in the use of data analytics tools including Power BI.
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
