Responsibilities
As Senior Counsel within Retail Health you will report to the Managing Senior Counsel for Retail Health, which includes MinuteClinic, MinuteClinic Virtual Care, and Virtual Primary Care
You will work collaboratively with and provide strategic legal counsel to internal business partners with respect to Retail Health’s business
You will be a key strategic partner to senior leaders, proactively identifying business and legal risks and advising business partners on a wide variety of matters in a fast-paced environment
Your work will include providing solutions that balance legal issues and business objectives on matters related to products and services, scope of practice, corporate practice of medicine, quality and patient safety, and other legal and regulatory compliance matters
You will be expected to develop a keen understanding of Retail Health’s business and the operational goals of assigned internal business partners, working diligently to develop and maintain positive relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization
You will recommend practical and sound advice and take an active role in driving projects to final results
Serve as lead counsel for specified areas within Retail Health’s business
Provide timely, accurate and actionable guidance to internal business partners
Advise business partners with respect to the application of federal and state laws and regulations (including AKS, Stark and FCA) to business activities for the specified areas within Retail Health
Provide legal expertise on various initiatives, projects and/or specialized legal matters affecting assigned areas and perform special research projects
Consult with other subject matter legal/compliance experts, including HR, Corporate, Litigation, Privacy, Government Affairs and Compliance
Develop a deep understanding of operational systems relevant to assigned areas

Position Summary

Major Responsibilities
• Serve as lead counsel for specified areas within Retail Health’s business.
• Provide timely, accurate and actionable guidance to internal business partners.
• Advise business partners with respect to the application of federal and state laws and regulations (including AKS, Stark and FCA) to business activities for the specified areas within Retail Health.
• Provide legal expertise on various initiatives, projects and/or specialized legal matters affecting assigned areas and perform special research projects.
• Consult with other subject matter legal/compliance experts, including HR, Corporate, Litigation, Privacy, Government Affairs and Compliance.
• Develop a deep understanding of operational systems relevant to assigned areas.

Required Qualifications
• 8+ years of legal experience with a law firm or healthcare company.
• Bachelor’s Degree and Juris Doctorate degree.
• Admission to practice law in at least one state and member in good standing of applicable state bar association(s).

Preferred Qualifications
• Strong knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations, and fraud and abuse issues (including clinician licensing/scope of practice, corporate practice of medicine, AKS, Stark and FCA).
• Experience drafting and negotiating complex agreements and services agreements.
• 5+ years’ experience communicating with senior levels within a large organization
• Ability to collaborate effectively and work as a team player in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, initiative, and drive.
