Job Description
A unique property, Ikara Wilpena Pound is the only accommodation located within the Ikara Flinders Ranges National Park, 430km north of Adelaide. The IWE company is building one of Australia’s premier Indigenous and eco-tourism experiences. This extraordinary landscape includes 800 million year old fossils unique in the world and has been home to Adnyamathanha people for tens of thousands of years. Enjoy a haven of outback hospitality with 60 hotel rooms, 15 glamping safari tents, a picturesque campground, National Park Visitor Information Centre, restaurant, bar/bistro, swimming pool and general store.
Main Duties
The Role:
The key objective of this role is to provide an experience to guests that exceed their expectations, whilst imparting extensive knowledge of the region including geology, flora and fauna and local Aboriginal and European history. Adhere to all government regulations whilst operating a tour vehicle and conducting a tour.
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following
Provide an experience for guests whilst on tour, with accurate knowledge and storytelling capabilities
At all times, keeping updated on product knowledge of Resort and related activities
Greet all guests on tour and provide an overview of itinerary
Maintain great communication with all parties including National Parks personnel and other staff members
Anticipate any guest requirements which could enhance their experience or prevent any loss or injury
Operate and maintain the tour vehicle with due care and considerations for all passengers. Maintain tour vehicle logbooks, cleanliness, adhering to all government regulations and road safety rules
Food and beverage service to guests whilst on tour as per the itinerary inclusions
Apply any first aid as required
Support the knowledge base with attendance at training session, attend National Parks seminars and read relevant material
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
Possession of a current SA Driver’s License, HR or MR
Police Check
Working with children’s check
Working with vulnerable person check
First aid certificate
Certification as a Tour Guide.
Experiences
A demonstrated connection to culture and community.
Ability to establish and maintain appropriate networks.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience in working with or in Aboriginal communities.
Ability to be self-motivated in a flexible team environment.
Demonstrated report writing skills.
An understanding of the needs of Aboriginal Employees who may not be able to live with their parents.
Good computer skills with knowledge of the Microsoft Office package of tools, Outlook and capacity to navigate the internet for work purposes.
Ability to respect and work within the values of Ikara Wilpena Pound and commitment to reflecting and adhering to policies and procedures.
Ability to work co-operatively and respectfully with team members,
