As a Criminal Litigating Lawyer at SM ASSOCIATES, you'll be instrumental in handling a diverse range of criminal matters. You'll be responsible for drafting crucial legal documents, representing our clients in various courts, conducting in-depth legal research, and providing expert advice until the discharge of the case.
Key Responsibilities
• Represent our clients effectively in Magistrate, Sessions, and High Courts.
• Draft and prepare essential legal documents including bail applications, anticipatory bail applications, quashing petitions, criminal appeals, revisions, and other relevant pleadings.
• Actively assist in and conduct trials, including the examination and cross-examination of witnesses.
• Perform thorough legal research on criminal statutes, evolving case laws, and procedures.
• Provide comprehensive legal advice to our clients on criminal law, defence strategies, and potential case outcomes.
• Liaise professionally with police authorities, public prosecutors, senior advocates, clients, and other key stakeholders.
What We're Looking For
• An LLB degree from a recognized university.
• Current enrolment as an Advocate with the Bar Council.
• 3-4 years of Post Qualification Experience (PQE) specifically in criminal litigation matters.
• In-depth knowledge of the BNSS, BNS, BSA and other pertinent criminal statutes.
• Exceptional drafting, research, and argumentation skills.
• Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• A proactive, detail-oriented approach with the ability to handle sensitive information with utmost discretion.
