Job Description
• Currently local to NJ and able to commute to Woodbridge, NJ 3x per week (Tuesday - Thursday)
• 5+ years of credit underwriting or credit risk experience
• Experience within point-of-sale (POS) lending environments (home improvement, dental/medical financing, auto repair, or device financing).
• Strong experience analyzing unsecured consumer or small business lending products.
• Hands-on experience with U.S. credit bureau data (Experian, Equifax, TransUnion) and using credit scorecards in underwriting decisions.
• Experience performing income verification and cash flow underwriting, including reviewing tax returns, pay stubs, and bank statements.
• Ability to review and evaluate loan application data and determine approvals, declines, or counteroffers based on credit policy.
• Experience investigating credit alerts, fraud flags, and verification discrepancies.
• Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, logic functions (IF, nested formulas), and data analysis.
• Understanding of debt-to-income (DTI) ratios or debt service coverage ratios (DSCR) in credit decisioning.
• Experience working with or alongside automated underwriting/decision engines.
• Ability to analyze data and communicate findings clearly to cross-functional teams.

Day to Day:
One of our fintech clients is looking to hire a Credit Rish Manager to join their risk team. n this role, you will review and analyze consumer and small business loan applications submitted through the company’s digital lending platforms to determine appropriate credit decisions, including approvals, declines, and counteroffers. You will evaluate applicant financial profiles by reviewing credit bureau data, income documentation, and other supporting materials to ensure decisions align with internal credit policies and investor guidelines. A significant part of the role involves verifying applicant information and investigating credit or fraud alerts when data cannot be confirmed or does not match verification sources. This may include reviewing documents such as tax returns, pay stubs, and bank statements to assess income, cash flow, and overall creditworthiness. The role requires regular communication with applicants and referral partners to request additional documentation, clarify information, or address underwriting-related questions. Beyond individual loan reviews, you will collaborate with Risk, Engineering, and leadership teams to ensure credit strategies and automated decision engines are functioning as intended and aligned with company policy. You may also assist with identifying trends or risks in application data, contribute to improvements in credit policies or underwriting processes, and support internal or external audit requests as needed. This position will be on-site 3x per week (Tuesday-Thursday) and candidates must be currently local to NJ in order to be considered.
