Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Cost & Operations Accountant.
This role is responsible for end‑to‑end ownership of product and item setup, costing, inventory accounting, and job/process costing, ensuring high accuracy, strong controls, and audit‑ready data. The position owns the integrity of the inventory and costing systems and related processes and leads the month‑end close for inventory, COGS, and operational accruals. Working closely with purchasing, supply chain, and operations, the role drives margin improvement and working capital efficiency, strengthens vendor management and procure‑to‑pay controls, and delivers clear, actionable insights into cost drivers, variances, and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Own the integrity of the inventory system and processes
Perform periodic and month-end item-wise, category-wise and project-wise gross margin analysis and investigate variances and abnormalities
Maintain, validate and update actual and landed costs in the inventory system
Perform item costing, job costing and process costing (WIP tracking, completions, variances)
Analyze material, labour, and overhead absorption and yield losses
Support cycle counts and physical inventories; investigate shrinkage and obsolescence; carry out periodic physical inventory counts.
Partner with procurement on Vendor pricing, cost changes, and PPV analysis and Purchase order accuracy and three‑way matching
Review and validate vendor invoices, credits, and rebates
Monitor vendor performance (pricing accuracy, delivery issues impacting cost)
Support vendor master controls and approval workflows
Work closely with operations and supply chain to:
Understand production flows and cost drivers
Improve visibility into throughput, capacity, and bottlenecks
Support inventory optimization and working capital initiatives
Prepare cost variance analysis with clear root‑cause explanations
Develop and maintain costing models and assumptions
Identify and implement process improvements across inventory, purchasing, and close
Strengthen documentation, controls, and segregation of duties
Skills and Qualifications:
CPA / CA / CMA or equivalent accounting designation preferred
5–10+ years in manufacturing, distribution, or project-based environments
Strong hands-on experience with:
Cost accounting (job & process costing)
Inventory and WIP accounting
Month-end close and reconciliations
Solid understanding of IFRS and/or US GAAP inventory rules
Well aware of cloud accounting applications and have worked in such an environment.
Experience in partnering with operations, purchasing, and supply chain
