Job Description
Functions:
Participates in menu development and is responsible for the timely preparation, presentation and delivery of food to residents.
Responsible to guide and direct staff in the preparation, presentation and serving of food.
Responsible for ensuring the kitchen and dining room are clean and sanitary.
Cooperates with other facility staff with respect to special functions or events.
Ensures food service for meals are in alignment with Public Health meeting all safe food temperature standards.
Ensures dietary restrictions are met during meal service for resident needs.
Follows all Occupational Health and Safety Standards and reports any equipment for hazardous immediately to supervisors or joint health and safety committee member.
Participates in Fire Safety demonstrations and drills in accordance with Riverview Park fire and disaster plans.
Qualifications
Strong attention to detail
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Highschool Diploma or Post-Secondary School Certificate minimum
Current Food Handlers Certificate
Must be familiar with the use of kitchen equipment and quantity food preparation
Must have empathy for, and an understanding of the needs of the elderly.
Ability to multi-task and ability to problem solve on the go
Must have the ability to speak, read and write English, and to follow oral and written directions, and do arithmetic calculations.
Good physical and mental health to sustain working in warm conditions.
Covid-19 and Flu Vaccination Strongly Recommended
Completion of mandatory training annually in accordance with the RHRA
Vulnerable Sector Check and TB Testing
Job Type: Part-time Hours Varying from 1PM- 7PM and 9:30 - 5:30pm
