Video Content Creator – Shoot & Edit
Location: Ooty, Nilgiris
Full-time | On-site
Come make content from the mountains.
The Good Doll is a homegrown toy brand from the Nilgiris, building a world of play around Nilah — a contemporary Indian girl made for today’s childhood.
And we're looking for someone who can help us tell her story.
Not just someone who can hold a camera.
Not just someone who can edit.
We're looking for a maker — someone who can take an idea, figure out how to bring it alive, shoot it, edit it and turn it into content people actually want to watch.
You'll be based with our team in Ooty, working alongside another content creator and our larger brand and content team.
What will you actually do?
A lot of making.
One day you might be shooting Nilah outdoors in the Nilgiris. Another day you could be filming a founder talking about why we designed something a certain way. The next could be a quick product Reel, an ad, a behind-the-scenes moment from our production floor or something completely spontaneous that you noticed and thought:
"This would make great content."
You'll:
• Take scripts and content ideas and figure out how best to shoot them
• Plan frames, angles, locations, props, styling, lighting and people required for a shoot
• Shoot short-form video content for Instagram, Meta ads and other digital platforms
• Edit your own footage as well as footage shot by the rest of the team
• Work on hooks, pacing, music, sound, subtitles, transitions and colour
• Create different cuts and variations from the same footage
• Produce both performance content for advertising and organic content for our social channels
• Spot everyday content opportunities around you instead of waiting for every idea to arrive as a formal brief
• Work closely with another content creator so we can significantly increase the amount of good content we put out every week
Most importantly, you'll be expected to take ownership of content from:
IDEA → PLAN → SHOOT → EDIT → DONE.
Who are we looking for?
You probably already spend a slightly unreasonable amount of time thinking about videos.
You notice a good frame.
You know when an edit is dragging.
You understand why the first three seconds matter.
You can make something look good without needing a huge production setup.
And when you see something interesting happening around you, your instinct is to reach for a camera.
We're looking for someone who:
• Has 1–4 years of hands-on experience creating video content
• Is strong at video editing — this is especially important to us
• Can shoot independently using a camera and/or phone
• Understands composition, lighting and basic audio
• Is comfortable with short-form content and Reels
• Understands that an ad and an organic Reel don't always need to behave the same way
• Can work quickly and manage multiple pieces of content at the same time
• Is comfortable experimenting, receiving feedback and making another version
• Can collaborate closely with other creative people
• Is willing to work full-time from Ooty
Your degree matters much less to us than what you've actually made.
One important thing about this role
We're not looking for someone who wants to spend four days perfecting one 30-second Reel.
We care about quality, but we also care about momentum.
We want to make, put things out into the world, see what works, learn and make again.
Sometimes the right answer is a beautifully planned shoot.
Sometimes it's a phone, ten minutes and a really good idea.
Knowing the difference matters.
