Permanent Full time 44 hours per week

About the Role

This role offers remarkable variety and the chance to collaborate with a wide range of specialists, both within and beyond the organisation, while building strong and respectful working relationships. Each day brings something new, exposing you to the full spectrum of psychiatryfrom enduring mental illness to trauma, grief and distress. Youll be part of a close-knit team of compassionate, supportive colleagues who genuinely care about the work they do and the people they serve. We are accredited for the RANZCP training scheme, and youll have the opportunity to join active peer review groups and contribute to systemic change.

Key responsibilities:

Provide quality clinical services to tamariki, rangatahi and their whānau within Te Whatu Ora Waikato boundaries
As a clinical expert, you will ensure that the appropriate and current knowledge, skills, and attitudes in the area of psychiatry, are applied to clinical situations and team decision making
Participate in clinical partnership to ensure that tāngata whaiora and their whānau receive integrated, appropriate, effective, and efficient assessment and care

About the Team/Service

We are the Mental Health and Addictions Service arm of Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Waikato. Puawai Regional Forensic Mental Health Service supports people with moderate to severe mental illness whove had contact with the justice system across Te Manawa Taki. We provide secure inpatient careacute, sub-acute, rehabilitation, and transition wardsand community services to courts, prisons (Waikeria, Springhill, Tongariro), and tāngata whaiora. We work closely with Adult Services to ensure smooth transitions between inpatient and community settings.

About You

Skills and experience youll need to be considered for the role:

A Psychiatrist who is vocationally registered or eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
A versatile and flexible clinician who has a passion for working as part of a team
A person who is excited about and willing to contribute participate in service enhancement
A clinician who is passionate about eliminating health inequities
