About the Role
We have a permanent, full-time opportunity available to join our Te Manawa Taki regional team as a Compliance and Health Protection Team Lead, Waikato Taupō.
The primary purpose of the role is team management, delivery, performance, and development. It involves operational leadership, responsibilities for people and performance, and a collaborative approach to working.
The Team Lead will hold an operational role in the team, deliver operational work and have responsibility for work programme(s) relevant to their professional skill set (depending on the size of the team they are responsible for).

The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.
This position is based in Hamilton/ Kirikiriroa.
About you
You will either:
(i) Hold an existing operational role in our Compliance and Health Protection team, or
(ii) Meet the eligibility requirements of the following position that is being recruited:
Registered Nurse – Communicable Diseases
In addition, you are an experienced leader able to nurture and develop a team to make them feel valued. You're open to new ideas and create a culture where individuals at all levels bring their ideas on how to ‘do it better' to the table. You're able to work collaboratively across the sector and organisational boundaries to influence outcomes.
Skills and Experience
Tertiary qualification/degree in Public Health or a related field or equivalent experience
Proven experience in team leadership and management, preferably in a public health context
At least 3-5 years' experience in a public health service delivery role
Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action
Clean full New Zealand Drivers' Licence
Willingness to travel across the region
Be eligible to work in an operational role within the team
