As New Zealand's health watchdog, the Commissioner is involved in a wide spectrum of health concerns to ensure accountability in the healthcare system and promote high standards of care.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the HDC Complaints Assessment Team (CAT) as a Complaints Assessor assistant. The Complaints Assessment Team is at the frontline of the Commissioner's contact with the community. They respond to enquiries, receive and resolve complaints, and engage with key stakeholders and members of the public

The role of the Complaints Assessment Assistant is to help progress complaint files and draft legally sound, high-quality correspondence to all parties.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a sensitive, empathetic approach.
Able to engage with complainants/ consumers on the phone, and in writing.
Proven ability to identify and solve problems
Ability to work autonomously.
Excellent organisational skills -able to manage time, set priorities and meet deadlines.
Methodical approach with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Demonstrated ability to use IT systems.
Calm and professional approach, with the ability to work well under pressure and manage difficult subject matter.
Enthusiasm for working as part of a team - empathic and supportive of colleagues.
An understanding of, and interest in, the health and disability sector in New Zealand.
An understanding of the principles of the Te Tiriti O Waitangi and the aims and aspirations of Maori.

Awhe utu - Salary range

As part of our remuneration framework the base salary range for the position is from $51,600 to $64,500. Note: KiwiSaver / employer contribution is in additional to your base salary. We offer a range of benefits including:

Four weeks annual leave and 15 days sick leave

; Flexible working opportunities, including working from home (3 Days in the office and up to 2 days at home)
Discounts on health insurance
