Community Educator and Supervisor
Job Description
Te Mahi/About the Position
This is a full-time permanent position, based predominantly from our Nelson office, working 80 hours per fortnight. Usual hours of work will be Monday to Friday within business hours.
Key Aspects:
Reporting to our Service Manager and as part of the Leadership team, you will be responsible for:
guiding and educating our community support workers
the development of the support worker training and competency plan, including NZQA qualifications
completion of annual performance appraisals for the support workforce
accurate and up-to-date record keeping for all support worker training
workplace verification and assessments
liaising with clients, support workers and internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistent and high quality service is provided
assisting with recruitment, and orientation of new support workers
Working with the Service Manager, the successful applicant will have a great rapport with all clients and staff and will assist with proactive management of any performance issues.

To be successful in this role, you will:
hold a New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (or equivalent), or a higher level health qualification and/ or a teaching or training diploma
recent experience in a teaching or training role, and in working with staff and clients in the healthcare sector
be competent in the use of computer systems
be agile in problem solving and thinking
establish a positive and supportive rapport with colleagues and clients
You will also have the following skills:
A warm, proactive and professional communication style
Patience, resilience and a “can do” attitude in challenging situations
The ability to prioritise effectively and efficiently
Competence in working with computer systems and learning new programmes
Team orientation, working well with others at all levels
Critical thinking and a “can-do” attitude
