The Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement (SBP) has an exciting story to tell and is seeking a collaborative, proactive and creative strategic communications professional to help us tell it!
SBP is where infrastructure, procurement, real property, facility management, logistics and information technology meet to enable the Government of Saskatchewan’s Growth Plan and programs and services for citizens and communities.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager of Communications and Marketing and as part of the Communications Branch, you’ll be responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating communication strategies, programs and activities to support the ministry.
Your responsibilities will include:
Creating and executing strategic communications plans to support programs and initiatives;
Coordinating all aspects of communications projects, internal and external, from client consultation and planning to creating deliverables such as articles, speeches, news releases, web content, graphics, etc.;
Supporting event planning, including working with vendors, preparing communications materials, providing on-site support during events, etc.;
Working independently and as part of the team to plan, develop, implement and evaluate communication strategies and plans; and,
Assisting with media relations, including responding to media inquiries in collaboration with the manager.
The Ideal Candidate
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Knowledge of communications theories, principles, and techniques, with a specific interest in internal and external communications;
A strong background in writing communication materials and strategies, including creating materials for traditional and digital audiences;
The ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and clients;
The ability to research, clearly and concisely write and edit a variety of communications materials, including communication plans, news releases, web content, and speeches;
The ability to anticipate, identify and assess broad issues in the context of the impact on SaskBuilds and Procurement;
Experience using communications-related software, including website management tools and Adobe Creative Cloud software;
Experience in planning and executing events; and
A collaborative mindset with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities and contribute creative ideas to communications initiatives.

Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be attained through a degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, or a related field of study, combined with several years of communications experience.
An advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and communications-related software, including InDesign, Google Analytics, social media analytics, SharePoint analytics, video editing programs and/or Photoshop, is considered an asset.
