The Robert Menzies Institute is seeking a versatile and creative individual to join our team in capacity as a Communications Manager. This role will primarily involve crafting our external communications via our newsletters, web page and social media, as well as designing digital content using tools like Canva and managing email campaigns through Mailchimp.



Additionally, you will provide support during events, including capturing beautiful images with your photography and videography skills.

Company Description

The Robert Menzies Institute is a prime ministerial library and museum based in the Old Quad at The University of Melbourne. The Institute honours the life and legacy of Australia's longest-serving prime minister, Sir Robert Menzies.



Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Communications Manager located at Parkville, VIC. The Communications Manager will be responsible for managing the Institute's communications, including media relations, social media, website content, and publications. They will also collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement communication strategies to promote the Institute's programs, exhibitions, and events.



In this role, you will be responsible for marketing and communications, including:

Creating promotional material for all events
Designing the Institute’s marketing collateral including Institute signage, booklets, flyers, calls for papers, competition posters etc
Creating and distributing the monthly newsletter
Managing the Mailchimp platform including the creation and distribution of all campaigns, and
Keeping the Institute’s website up to date.


You will also support the Events Manager in our events.



You will assist with day to day office management, including:

Admin tasks, including supporting the CEO
Assistance with events and the museum where required
Monitoring and responding to office calls and voicemails
Following up building maintenance issues that arise.


Qualifications

An interest in and passion for Australian history
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience in media relations, public relations, or corporate communications
Experience in managing social media platforms
Ability to develop and implement communication strategies
Excellent project management skills
Expertise in content creation, branding, and marketing/publicity campaigns, including use of Mailchimp, Canva, Squarespace
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
Experience in the arts, cultural, or heritage sector is desirable.


Salary range: $+0K-$100K plus 11.5% superannuation. Not for profit salary sacrificing benefits available.
