About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced CAD Drafter specializing in architectural metal and glass systems—including curtain walls, storefronts, entrances, guardrails/handrails, canopies, and custom fabricated components. You will produce accurate shop drawings, fabrication details, and installation drawings that translate design intent into buildable, code‑compliant solutions.

What You’ll Do
Develop detailed shop drawings and fabrication drawings for aluminum, steel, and glass assemblies (mullions, anchors, embeds, glazing details, trims, flashings).
Create cut lists and annotate drawings with precise dimensions, tolerances, finishes, and hardware.
Prepare layout and setting plans, sections, and details for field installation; coordinate embeds, anchors, and attachment details to structure.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and fabrication/shop leads to resolve clashes, tolerances, and sequencing.
Review and incorporate RFI responses, submittal comments, and change orders rapidly and accurately.
Maintain standards, templates, and layer conventions; ensure drawings meet company CAD standards and project specifications.
Export and check CNC/laser/waterjet files or DXFs as required by the shop.
Perform field dimension verification (as-built) when needed and update drawings accordingly.
Track revision history and deliverables to meet project schedules and submittal deadlines.
Must‑Have Qualifications
3+ years hands-on drafting experience specifically in architectural metal & glass (glazing contractors, façade fabricators, or similar).
Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (2D; 3D a plus).
Demonstrated portfolio of curtain wall/storefront/guardrail or similar metal & glass shop drawings.
Strong understanding of typical connection details, sealant/glazing interfaces, thermal breaks, and waterproofing at transitions.
Ability to read and interpret architectural/structural drawings, specs, and addenda; coordinate to structural steel and concrete.
Experience producing fabrication‑ready details, including accurate dimensions, GD&T/tolerances, and material callouts.
Excellent organization, version control, and deadline management in a multi‑project environment.
Clear written and verbal communication with engineers, PMs, and field teams.
Nice‑to‑Have (Preferred)
Experience with curtain wall systems (stick/unitized), entrances, skylights, canopies, balustrades.
Familiarity with relevant industry standards (e.g., AAMA/FGIA, ASTM for glazing, anchors/fasteners best practices).
Experience preparing submittal packages and responding to reviewer comments.
Basic 3D modeling (AutoCAD 3D, Inventor, SolidWorks, or Revit) for complex assemblies.
Exposure to CNC nesting/DXF exports and coordination with fabrication equipment.
Tools You’ll Use
AutoCAD (primary)
Optional: Revit/SolidWorks/Inventor (plus), Bluebeam.
