Job Description
Role Summary
Experience-10 yrs
We are seeking an experienced Cognos Architect to lead the end-to-end architecture, installation, configuration, performance optimization, and ongoing stability of the IBM Cognos Analytics platform across Development, UAT, and Production environments.
This role will drive platform migrations, enforce IBM best practices, and ensure high availability, security, and performance through robust architectural design and automation.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end installation and configuration of IBM Cognos Analytics across DEV, UAT, and PROD environments.
Ensure deployments follow IBM best practices, recommended topologies, and architectural standards.
Design and implement automated installation and configuration using scripting tools (PowerShell, Linux shell scripting, Ansible).
Lead Cognos server migrations, including environment refresh, configuration replication, and validation.
Perform performance tuning and optimization:
Memory and JVM optimization
Dispatcher and service configuration
Cache and query optimization
Recommend server sizing, capacity planning, and scalability improvements.
Implement load balancing across Cognos Gateways and Dispatchers.
Configure and manage Cognos services including:
Security integrations
Data source connections
Dispatcher and Gateway settings
Design and maintain high availability and failover configurations.
Implement security best practices including integration with Active Directory / SSO.
Manage and optimize Content Store configuration (backup, restore, DR strategy).
Produce and maintain:
Installation & configuration guides
Runbooks & SOPs
Architecture & topology diagrams
Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, and Database teams.
Configure Windows IIS to securely expose Cognos applications to end users.
Required Skills & Experience
Strong experience as a Cognos Architect or Cognos Administrator in enterprise environments.
Deep understanding of Cognos architecture, components, and deployment models.
Experience managing multi-environment (DEV/UAT/PROD) setups.
Proven expertise in Cognos performance tuning and troubleshooting.
Hands-on automation experience (PowerShell, Linux Shell, Ansible).
Strong knowledge of load balancing, HA, and failover concepts.
Experience integrating Cognos with Active Directory / SSO.
Knowledge of Content Store databases (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2).
Experience with Windows Server and IIS.
Strong documentation and architectural diagramming skills.
Preferred Qualifications
IBM Cognos Analytics Certification
Experience with cloud or hybrid deployments
Exposure to DevOps / Infrastructure-as-Code practices
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
