The Role

As a Clerical Officer, you will be at the heart of a dynamic, patient-focused diagnostic environment, supporting high-quality care across multiple hospital sites. You will contribute to a service that delivers tens of thousands of vital investigations each year, helping patients receive timely diagnosis and treatment. Working alongside multidisciplinary clinical and scientific teams, you will ensure services run smoothly, efficiently and compassionately. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Full Time, Permanent

Base Location: Gartnavel General Hospital

Shift Pattern: 36 hours within Monday to Sunday, 0800-2030 (9 hours per day)

Key Responsibilities
• Booking, coordinating and managing PET/CT and Nuclear Medicine appointments, including changes and cancellations
• Responding to telephone, email and face-to-face enquiries from patients, relatives and healthcare professionals
• Maintaining accurate patient records using electronic systems such as RIS, PAS and other clinical platforms
• Preparing and issuing appointment letters and patient instructions, ensuring all information is clear and timely
• Providing reception and general administrative support, including filing, scanning, document control and meeting coordination
• Liaising with departments, wards and external services to support patient pathways, including transport and interpreter arrangements
• Supporting data entry, audit processes and stock/ordering systems in line with departmental procedures

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
• Proven clerical or administrative experience within a busy environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive information with tact and confidentiality
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail when managing patient data and documentation
• Confidence using IT systems, including Microsoft Office and electronic patient management systems
• Ability to work independently using initiative while contributing effectively as part of a team
• Previous experience in a healthcare setting or knowledge of patient administration systems is desirable
