Job Description
Nara Roadtranz Limited is currently seeking dependable and punctual Class 5 Linehaul Truck Drivers to join its team in Christchurch. The ideal candidates will demonstrate strong time management skills, a professional attitude, and a commitment to safe and efficient driving practices while completing assigned delivery routes.
The role involves travel within and the nearby regions with all work-related travel and fuel costs covered by the employer.
Key Duties:
Safely operate Class 5 truck and trailer units for long-haul and linehaul transport across assigned routes
Conduct pre-departure, in-transit, and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and compliance
Secure, check, and monitor loads to prevent damage, shifting, or safety risks during transit
Accurately complete delivery documentation, run sheets, and electronic or manual logbooks
Comply with all NZ transport regulations, including work time, rest breaks, and speed requirements
Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and depot staff regarding delivery times and issues
Manage unexpected delays, route changes, or mechanical issues in a calm and professional manner
Report vehicle defects, maintenance needs, or safety concerns promptly to management
Ensure freight is delivered in a timely, safe, and professional manner
Maintain cleanliness and presentation of the vehicle and cab at all times
Follow company policies, customer site rules, and biosecurity requirements where applicable
Demonstrate safe driving practices in all weather and traffic conditions.
You will be required to work for a minimum of 30 hours per week and be paid between $30 to $35 per hour.
Requirements:
Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience.
A clean and safe driving record with valid Truck Driver's Licence (Class-5) or Overseas Heavy Truck Driver's License.
Must be comfortable with staying away from home when required during weekdays or weekends.
Must be fit & healthy - some physical activity involves in the role including strapping and chaining required to ensure secure loads
Clean criminal Record is essential.
Zero Tolerance for Drugs & Alcohol.
The successful applicant maybe required to undertake a Pre-Employment Health Assessment (including drugs test) and complete a Ministry of Justice criminal records check
