Join the Alco Carriers Team
Alco Carriers is seeking an experienced, safety-focused Class 1 Off-Road Driver to join our team. This position involves local deliveries throughout the Edmonton area, with occasional out-of-town work. You'll enjoy being home most evenings with most weekends off while working with a company that values professionalism, teamwork, and safe work practices.
If you have extensive flat deck and winch experience, take pride in transporting loads safely, and enjoy working both independently and as part of a team, we'd like to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
· Safely operate Class 1 commercial vehicles on both highway and off-road job sites.
· Transport materials and equipment throughout the Edmonton area and to occasional out-of-town locations.
· Secure loads using proper load securement methods in accordance with provincial and federal regulations.
· Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of tractor, trailer, and securement equipment.
· Ensure all roads are transported safely and arrive on schedule.
· Complete driver logs, inspection reports, and required documentation accurately.
· Maintain a professional and courteous attitude when interacting with customers, dispatch, and coworkers.
· Report on vehicle maintenance concerns, incidents, or safety hazards promptly.
· Follow all company policies, transportation regulations, and safety procedures.
Qualifications:
· Valid Class 1 Driver's License.
· Minimum 3+ years of flat deck and winch truck experience.
· Strong knowledge of load securement, including chains, binders, straps, and applicable regulations.
· Experience operating safely in off-road and industrial environments.
· Clean Commercial Driver's Abstract.
· Excellent understanding of safe driving practices and defensive driving techniques.
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing positively to a team environment.
· Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
· Reliable, dependable, and committed to safety.
Experience hauling equipment or materials for industrial, construction, oil and gas, or heavy haul operations is considered an asset.
