We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 7 to join Child and Young People’s Cancer Services.
Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialist within the Children and Young People’s Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialist Team The post is for 1.0 WTE (37.5hours/week), Band 7, 1year fixed term
The role of Clinical Nurse Specialist is pivotal in supporting the delivery of our high standards care to all patients, their family and significant others. The successful individual will provide effective and visible leadership, ensuring high standards of nursing care is provided and drive forward both service development and quality improvement, ensuring we promote patient safety and a positive patient experience.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have excellent clinical skills and experience caring for children and young people undergoing treatment for a range of haematology conditions. The post offers the opportunity to further develop your knowledge, skills and expertise as a leader within Children and Young People’s Service (CYPCS). Our service is rapidly developing and expanding. We are at the forefront of specialist clinical practice and offer a unique opportunity to develop nursing skills and knowledge in this field. Experience
Essential
• Minimum 3 years relevant post registration experience in paediatric cancer nursing
• Substantial experience at Band 6
Skills and Abilities
Essential
• Organisational and managerial skills
• Proven communication skills
• Ability to lead and coordinate change and service development
• Competent writing skills
• Ability to initiate, sustain and evaluate change.
Knowledge and Qualifications
Essential
• Registered Nurse, Child Branch or Registered Nurse with relevant paediatric experience
• Relevant post-registration programme
• Teaching/Assessment programme
• Honours Degree in Nursing, midwifery, research or ethics
Desirable
• Completed/completing Master’s Degree
Personal and People Development
Essential
• Demonstrates evidence of up-to-date professional development
