Key Responsibilities for the Hotel Chief Engineer or Hotel Maintenance include:

Maintenance and Repairs
Oversee routine maintenance and emergency repairs for hotel equipment, systems, and infrastructure (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and elevators).
Perform or supervise preventive maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and extend the life of equipment.
Facility Operations
Ensure all hotel facilities, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces, are in excellent condition.
Maintain compliance with brand standards for property upkeep and appearance.
Safety and Compliance
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, including fire safety and building codes.
Perform regular safety inspections and maintain records of certifications and inspections.
Energy Management
Monitor and manage energy consumption to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Implement energy-saving initiatives and sustainable practices.
Budgeting and Procurement
Manage the department's budget for maintenance, repairs, and supplies.
Source and negotiate with vendors for equipment, parts, and service contracts.
Crisis Management
Respond to and resolve emergencies such as power outages, plumbing failures, or HVAC issues to minimize guest impact.
Develop and implement contingency plans for major breakdowns or disasters.
Collaboration with Other Departments
Work closely with housekeeping, front desk, and food beverage teams to address maintenance needs promptly and support guest satisfaction.
Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs or large-scale projects.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain detailed records of maintenance schedules, repairs, and expenses.
Report regularly to the General Manager or ownership on maintenance activities, issues, and improvements.
