Job Description :
Chemistry lab assistants are responsible for a wide range of tasks in the chemistry laboratory. They may be tasked with preparing and maintaining equipment, setting up experiments, recording data, mixing chemicals, etc. Their duties may also include cleaning and sanitizing equipment and surfaces after experiments are completed.
Chemistry lab assistants must have a strong understanding of chemical processes and reactions in order to properly execute their job duties. They must also be able to follow detailed instructions carefully and work well under pressure.
Chemistry Lab Assistant Job Duties :
Chemistry lab assistants have a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:
Performing basic lab tasks such as cleaning glassware and equipment, sterilizing equipment, maintaining inventory of chemicals and supplies.
Recording data from experiments in a lab notebook and entering the data into a computer.
Obtaining supplies or equipment required by the chemistry lab director or professor.
Preparing glassware and equipment for experiments such as flasks, beakers, test tubes, burners and stirrers
Preparing chemicals or solutions for use in experiments.
Cleaning glassware, lab equipment, and surfaces in the lab using brushes and detergents.
Maintaining inventory of chemicals and supplies in the lab and ordering new supplies when needed
