The Role

Responsibilities
Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes, ensuring high-quality food presentation and consistency.
Maintaining a well-organized setup of ingredients and kitchen tools to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
Managing food storage, handling, and preparation in compliance with food safety and hygiene standards to prevent cross-contamination and foodborne illnesses.
Monitoring kitchen inventory levels and placing timely orders to restock ingredients and supplies, ensuring uninterrupted kitchen workflow.
Optimizing kitchen operations by implementing effective menu planning and inventory control techniques to minimize food wastage.
Maintaining stock control by accurately recording and monitoring food, ingredient, and supply inventories to prepare vendor orders efficiently.
Supervising kitchen assistants and ensuring adherence to food preparation techniques and industry best practices.
Operating various kitchen appliances, including combi ovens, deep fryers, grills, mixers, blenders, and food processors, to prepare a diverse range of dishes.
Maintaining and cleaning commercial kitchen equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and compliance with health and safety standards.
Adhering to portion control and plating standards to maintain food cost management and minimize waste.
Collaborating with team members to maintain an efficient and harmonious kitchen environment, ensuring smooth service during peak hours.
Assisting in the creation and development of new menu items, incorporating customer preferences and seasonal ingredients.
Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and hazard-free kitchen environment.
Requirements
Relevant Certificate 3 or 4 qualifications in commercial cookery.
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Chef.
Must have at least 2 years of experience in cooking over grill.
At least 2 years of menu planning experience.
Must know how to create new recipes and design menu according to budget.
Knowledge and experience in modern Mexican cuisine is essential.
Must know how to work with dietary requirements such as vegan, and gluten free food preparation techniques.
Must be able to work with variety of proteins including beef, pork, seafood.
Experience in adherence to recipe portion control, as well as ordering and stock control.
Ability to follow instruction take direction.
Excellent time management and attention to detail.
Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
