The Opportunity
Under the supervision of the Director, Transit Services the Transit Operator operates a bus to transport passengers to local destinations in a professional, reliable, safe manner; and provides related information to the public. In addition to the regular duties of a Transit Operator they must be supportive of management policies and directives.
Responsibilities
Operates a City transit bus in a competent, safe, and courteous manner in a variety of conditions and in accordance with City of Grande Prairie policies and Transit procedures.
Provides assistance to persons with disabilities for boarding, de-boarding, and securing of passengers.
Performs Pre and Post Trip inspections and follows established safety procedures and standards.
Collects fares and provides passengers with service and policy information.
Monitors passengers' safety when boarding and exiting buses.
Maintains bus cleanliness by sweeping it out at the end of shift/day
Reports all operational problems, such as delays and mechanical problems, according to established procedures.
Monitors passenger behaviour, and refuses service to individuals who may be a threat to the safety of others, or to individuals refusing to pay.
Perform other related duties as required.
Thorough knowledge of the geographic layout of the City of Grande Prairie.
