Job description
Education: Registered Apprenticeship certificate. Carpentry/carpenter. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: At heights. Confined spaces. Noisy. Dusty. Outdoors. Work setting: Construction. Various locations. Renovation. Commercial. Residential. Tasks: Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements. Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools. Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems. Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware. Instruct apprentices. Supervise other workers. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Carpenter Trade Certification. Personal protective equipment (PPE) training. Working at heights training. Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) clearance Certificate. Occupational Health and Safety Certificate. Carpenter Red Seal Certificate. Fall Arrest Protection Training Course. Equipment and machinery experience: Hand tools. Safety equipment. Area of specialization: Rigging and handling. Layout. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Public transportation is available.
