Duties and Responsibilities:

As a Carpenter at Action Homes, you will play a key role in constructing, installing, and maintaining structures while ensuring alignment with company standards and safety protocols. Your duties will include but not limited to:

Construction and Framing: Building and repairing wooden structures, including wall framing, roof trusses, and cladding, in line with architectural plans and NZ building codes.
Interpretation of Plans: Studying architectural drawings and specifications to determine required materials, dimensions, and installation procedures. Preparing layouts and ordering/selecting appropriate timbers and building materials for each project.
Formwork and Concrete Work: Assisting with formwork for concrete foundations, slabs, and retaining walls, including pouring and finishing.
Installation: Fitting doors, windows, cabinetry, and other fixtures with precision, ensuring seamless integration into builds.
Material Handling: Safely transporting and organizing building materials, tools, and equipment across sites.
Scaffolding and Temporary Structures: Erecting/dismantling scaffolding and temporary supports as needed.
Site Safety and Cleanliness: Maintaining a tidy, hazard-free workspace and adhering to Action Homes’ safety policies, including PPE compliance.
Team Collaboration: Working alongside builders, labourers, and subcontractors to meet project deadlines.
Equipment Use: Operating tools (e.g., nail guns, saws) and machinery (e.g., scissor lifts) responsibly.
Quality Assurance: Following plans meticulously and reporting defects or deviations to supervisors.
Flexibility: Willingness to work across Auckland and other regions, including weekends/shifts as required.


Job Requirements:

Qualification/Experience: At least a Level 4 NZ Certificate in Carpentry (or equivalent) OR 02 years of relevant experience.
Physical Fitness: Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 25kg) and work in all weather conditions.
Attitude: Team player with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Compliance: Understanding of NZ health and safety regulations
License: Class 1 Driver’s License preferred for site mobility.
