Responsibilities
The Carpenter II performs skilled journeyman-level carpentry work involving the construction, maintenance, repair, and renovation of building structures and fixtures
Responsibilities include repairing and installing doors, windows, flooring, partitions, stairways, and other building components; constructing cabinets, furniture, shelves, tables, and specialized wood products; performing shop work and flooring installation; maintaining and repairing tools; estimating labor and material needs; and completing other assigned duties
Provides skilled craftsmanship as a journeyman carpenter in the areas of construction, maintenance, and repair of building structures
Performs general carpentry work in alteration, repair and maintenance of buildings, floors, roods, stairways, partition, doors, windows, screens, scaffolding forms, wood fixtures and furniture
Builds cabinets of various sizes and designs, builds tables, doors, shelves, bookcases and a wide variety of specialized laboratory articles of wood
Performs skills bench work in shop, hands doors and windows, lay linoleum and tile floors
Cleans, sharpens, and repairs hand and bench tools
Makes estimates of time and material required for assigned tasks
Performs other duties as assigned
Manages Human Resources activities of department in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning
