Russel Metals is one of the largest metals distribution companies in North America, with a growing focus on value-added processing. The company operates through three segments: metals service centers, energy field stores, and steel distributors. Its metals service centers provide a wide range of metal products including carbon hot rolled and cold finished steel, pipe and tubular products, stainless steel, aluminum, and other non-ferrous specialty metals. Its energy field stores focus on serving energy industry customers, while its steel distributors segment supplies large volumes of steel to service centers and equipment manufacturers.
We are currently seeking a reliable and highly motivated individual for the position of CAD Programmer on-site at our Houston, TX location. Responsibilities include CAD Programming for various machines and updating schedules. AUTOCAD experience is required. Must be organized and dependable.
Essential Job Functions:
Prepares lay-outs, drawings and designs according to engineering specifications from customers.
Reviews engineering drawings and supporting documentation and may analyze designs and retrieve any necessary details to complete drawing, layout or design.
Works with the sales representative responsible for the sales order for quote or estimating.
Works directly with customers for drawing information and verification
Utilizes software such as AutoCAD and Pronest for part nesting and generating machine codes.
Assists inside/outside sales reps with labor time and material requirements for inquiries and programming.
Assists with managing processing schedule and posting.
Assists with processing documents to convert stock to finished goods.
Understands and follows all company safety policies and procedures.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Job Requirements:
Must have a minimum of two (2) years recent hands on experience operating AutoCAD or other industrial design work
Ability to read, write and comprehend in English and convert metric systems
Strong skills in mathematics and computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, Internet)
