Job Description

Power your career while enjoying the Nelson-Tasman lifestyle

13th August, 2026
Delta is your smart thinking infrastructure specialist. We construct, manage, and maintain essential energy and environmental infrastructure. Every day we make a difference in the lives of New Zealanders. We make communities better for people to live, work and play in - keeping the lights on, the trees trimmed and the parks green.

Nelson–Tasman offers an outstanding lifestyle with golden beaches, national parks, and a strong sense of community. With plenty of outdoor activities and a more relaxed pace of life, it’s a great place to put down roots while continuing to build your trade career.

We’re looking for an experienced Cable Jointer to join our Power and Communication Services team, working across the Nelson–Tasman regions. You’ll be involved in the construction and maintenance of distribution networks, including underground cable installation, jointing and terminations, and operating electrical equipment up to 33kV. The role also includes assisting with overhead network work within your competencies and participating in an after‑hours faults roster when required.

You’ll be a reliable, safety‑focused tradesperson who takes pride in quality workmanship and works well as part of a team. You’re comfortable following procedures, communicating clearly on site, and delivering work to a high standard. This role will suit someone who enjoys varied work, takes ownership, and contributes positively to team culture.

What you’ll need to be successful:

New Zealand EWRB Registration with a full Practising License as a Cable Jointer.
Minimum 3+ years’ experience in cable installation, jointing and terminating.
Experience with polymeric cables up to 11kV (higher voltage experience desirable).
Full Class 1 NZ driver license (Class 2 desirable).
Strong commitment to health, safety and quality outcomes.
Why Delta?
A role where you can be challenged and supported.
Discounts tied to popular retailers and service providers through our 'Boost' programme.
Extra contribution to KiwiSaver after your first year.
Cigna Life Insurance cover.
Commitment to safety, to make sure everyone gets home safely - every day.
Recognition for excellence and demonstrating Delta’s Values.
Professional development, training, and courses.
Corporate Social Responsibility Programmes and initiatives.
A competitive remuneration package and great benefits.
Joining a progressive and reputable New Zealand organisation.
Ready to make the move? APPLY NOW or contact Natalie McKenzie on 021 196 3081 for a confidential discussion.

Please submit your CV and a cover letter in your application via Seek . Delta is only considering candidates who have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand at this time.

Applications Close: 10 September 2026.

Please note:
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted, and all unsuccessful applicants will be notified via email. The successful candidate must pass a pre-employment drug and ******* test, and we encourage early applications as interviews may commence before the advertisement closes.
