Buyer / Inventory Lead (Cannabis Retail)
Location: West Babylon, NY (Onsite, with hybrid flexibility after ramp)
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: $75,000 – $90,000 per year

About the Role
Joyful Shores is opening its first adult-use ******** dispensary in West Babylon, NY in Spring 2026. Our mission is simple: make ******** shopping fast, easy, and enjoyable.
We’re looking for a Buyer / Inventory Lead to own both product assortment and inventory operations—from purchasing decisions to compliance and accuracy after products hit the shelf.
This is a high-impact, hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives in data-driven environments and understands that great buying doesn’t stop at placing orders—it extends through execution, compliance, and performance.
What You’ll DoPurchasing & Vendor Management
Build and manage product assortment across all categories (flower, edibles, vapes, concentrates, accessories)
Develop and maintain relationships with distributors and brand partners
Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and promotional opportunities
Manage open-to-buy budgets and track gross margin performance
Use sales and sell-through data to guide reorders and maintain par levels
Identify high-performing, unique, and in-demand products
Maintain strong SKU mix, including core “never-out” items
Inventory Operations & Compliance
Oversee all product intake: verify manifests, invoices, and compliance documentation
Accurately receive inventory into systems (METRC, Dutchie)
Maintain inventory accuracy and resolve discrepancies proactively
Execute cycle counts, audits, and monthly reconciliations
Monitor and reduce shrink through strong process control
Ensure full compliance with New York OCM regulations
Maintain clean, organized, and audit-ready inventory storage
Menu Strategy & Analytics
Track product and brand performance (velocity, revenue, margin)
Analyze trends to optimize assortment and pricing strategy
Conduct competitive analysis to stay aligned with local market dynamics
Prepare weekly/monthly reporting on purchasing, margins, and inventory health
Partner with leadership on promotions and pricing strategy
QualificationsRequired
2+ years of experience in ******** buying, inventory management, or retail purchasing
Strong understanding of inventory systems and compliance processes
Proficiency with spreadsheets and data analysis (Excel or Google Sheets)
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Must be 21+ and eligible for a NY ******** worker permit
Preferred
Experience with Dutchie POS / back office
Experience with METRC compliance and reporting
Knowledge of the New York ******** market
Background in high-volume retail or multi-category buying
