Service Foods Christchurch is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Butchery Assistant to join our morning shift.
As part of our Butchery team, you will play a crucial role in daily operations, working closely with our skilled butchers to help deliver the finest meat products to our customers.

Immediate start
Permanent, full‑time role
Location: Woolston, Christchurch
Days: Monday to Saturday
Shift: 03:30 am – 12:00 pm
About the role | Mō te tūranga mahi
Your primary responsibility is to accurately package and prepare meat products to meet our strict quality and safety standards.
Key Tasks Include:
Packing and labelling meat products with precision and care
Ensuring all products meet food safety and quality requirements
Operating vac-pack and other equipment to wrap meat
Preparing and organising orders for timely delivery
Maintaining a clean and hygienic workspace
Supporting meat preparation tasks (full training provided)
Following all Food Safety and Health & Safety procedures
Assisting with general butchery and operational duties
You’ll be working in a temperature‑controlled environment, so comfort with chilled or freezer conditions is essential. The role also involves repetitive hand movements and some heavy lifting.

We’re looking for someone who thrives in a physical, fast‑paced environment and brings:
Previous experience in meat processing/packing or the wider food industry
The ability to follow instructions and work well under pressure
Good physical fitness and ability to lift up to 20kgs
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
A team‑focused attitude and strong work ethic
Clear verbal and written communication skills
Reliability, willingness to learn, and transport to get to work
Willingness to work in cold environment
Flexibility to take on additional duties as required
