Billing Nurse
Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Billing Nurse to join our healthcare team. As a Billing Nurse, your primary responsibility will be to manage the billing and payment processes, ensuring timely and accurate reimbursement for healthcare services. This role involves calling patients to discuss payment, developing reasonable payment plans, entering patient data into administrative systems, and recording information about outstanding claims.
Responsibilities:
• Contact patients to discuss payment for medical services and assist in developing reasonable payment plans based on their financial situation.
• Enter patient information and billing details accurately into administrative systems, ensuring compliance with privacy and security regulations.
• Review and verify insurance information, claim forms, and supporting documents to ensure accurate and timely billing.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and insurance companies to resolve billing discrepancies, denied claims, and reimbursement issues.
• Follow up on outstanding claims and communicate with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers to address payment delays or issues.
• Maintain updated and organized records of patient billing and payment information.
• Provide guidance and support to patients regarding insurance coverage, billing inquiries, and payment options.
• Collaborate with the finance and administrative teams to ensure accurate and efficient billing processes.
• Stay updated with healthcare billing regulations, coding requirements, and insurance guidelines.
• Participate in training programs and continuing education activities to enhance billing and coding knowledge and skills.
Requirements:
• Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Experience in healthcare billing, preferably in a similar role.
• Knowledge of medical billing and coding procedures, including insurance claim submission and payment processes.
• Strong understanding of healthcare reimbursement systems and insurance guidelines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in recording and documenting billing information.
• Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and billing software.
• Familiarity with privacy and security regulations, such as HIPAA.
• Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information with discretion.
• Problem-solving and analytical skills to resolve billing discrepancies and payment issues.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and understanding of healthcare procedures and services.
