Responsibilities
This role focuses heavily on AutoCAD production and technical documentation, supporting custom residential projects — most of them two-story homes characteristic of the New Jersey area — from design development through permit and construction documentation phases
Support the development of Design Development (DD) and Construction Document (CD) packages for high-end residential projects
Produce and revise architectural drawings in AutoCAD
Develop and update SketchUp models as required
Incorporate redlines, markups, and client comments into drawing sets
Prepare floor plans, elevations, sections, details, and construction documentation
Coordinate architectural drawings with structural information and consultant requirements
Maintain consistency with established office drafting standards and project documentation practices
Assist with permit and construction drawing production, including permit sets for local authorities and CD sets for general contractors
Perform drawing revisions throughout project development and construction documentation phases
Communicate directly with the McAfee Architects team regarding project progress, questions, and technical coordination needs
Review project information and reference drawings to ensure accuracy and completeness
Support ongoing residential projects as workload demands fluctuate
Manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
Maintain clear, timely, and consistent communication with the internal team
Use short screen-share recordings to ask questions or flag issues, minimizing unnecessary meetings
Collaborate to ensure alignment, progress, and on-time delivery
Provide regular updates and meet agreed-upon milestones while maintaining quality standards
Job description
We are currently looking for a part-time Semi-Senior Architectural Designer / Draftsperson to join one of our client's teams and support high-end single-family residential projects across New Jersey. The ideal candidate has solid experience working with U.S.-based architecture firms and is comfortable contributing to Design Development (DD) and Construction Documents (CDs) under established office standards. This role focuses heavily on AutoCAD production and technical documentation, supporting custom residential projects — most of them two-story homes characteristic of the New Jersey area — from design development through permit and construction documentation phases.

What you'll do

What you must have
