Bar General Manager
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Bar General Manager to oversee the daily operations of our bar. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of food and beverage service, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences. This role involves managing staff, ensuring food safety standards, and maintaining a welcoming environment for guests. Previous experience in restaurant management, hospitality, or hotel operations is highly valued. The GM will play a key role in supervising team members, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Responsibilities
1. Operations Management
Oversee daily bar operations (opening/closing, service flow)
Ensure smooth coordination between bar, kitchen (if applicable), and floor staff
Maintain cleanliness, ambiance, and customer experience standards
Manage inventory (liquor, beer, food, supplies)
2. Staff Management
Hire, train, schedule, and supervise staff (bartenders and servers)
Enforce workplace policies and discipline when needed
Handle staff conflicts and performance issues
Ensure staff follow responsible ******* service practices
Develop staff schedules to meet business needs while maintaining team morale
Fill in the shift when the staff calls sick or emergency situations
3. Financial Management
Control costs (liquor, labor, utilities)
Monitor daily sales, cash flow, and profit margins
Handle budgeting and forecasting
Approve purchases and manage vendor relationships
Reduce waste and Voids.
Eliminate theft by taking corrective actions
Handle cash transactions accurately and perform cash handling duties
4. Customer Experience
Ensure high-quality service and guest satisfaction
Handle customer complaints professionally. Address customer concerns promptly to ensure satisfaction and repeat business in-house, Google, Facebook, Instagram and other social media
Build relationships with regulars (important for pub culture)
Maintain a welcoming and safe environment
5. Compliance & Legal
Ensure compliance with liquor laws and licensing regulations (especially important in places like Alberta under the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and ******** Commission)
Enforce ID checks and prevent over-serving
Maintain health and safety standards
Ensure staff certifications (e.g., ProServe in Alberta)
6. Inventory & Supplier Management
Track stock levels and place orders
Negotiate with suppliers for pricing and deals
Monitor shrinkage, breakage, and theft
Plan seasonal or promotional inventory
7. Marketing & Promotions
Plan events (karaoke nights, live music, trivia, sports nights)
Manage social media or coordinate with the team
Create promotions to increase traffic (happy hour, themed nights)
Collaborate with entertainers, or event hosts
8. Sales & Revenue Growth
Set sales targets
Analyze peak hours and optimize staffing
Introduce new menu items or drink specials
Upsell premium products and improve average spend per customer
9. Security & Risk Management
Handle incidents (fights, intoxication, disturbances)
Protect business assets and cash handling procedures
Review surveillance if issues arise
10. Administrative Duties
Prepare reports (sales, labor, incidents)
Manage payroll and staff records
Maintain licenses, permits, and documentation
Coordinate with owners or upper management
11. POS System
Manage POS systems for trouble shooting, If having experience in PIXEL POINT POS will be added advantage
Run sales and Attendance report.
Add a specials button for special occasions
12. VLT and Bar sale books
Maintain and balance float from the previous day to the opening bartender
Do the bar sale from the previous day for all the server and bartender and make the total deposit.
Any shortages in the float and bar sales, take corrective action to fill the shortages.

Pay: $20.00 per hour
